Dr Nnenna Ifeanyi-Ajufo is a lawyer and academic with expertise in international law and the legal aspects of innovation and technology. She is a Senior Lecturer at the Hilary Rodham Clinton School of Law, Swansea University, United Kingdom. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) from the University of Abuja, Nigeria and a Bachelor at Law Degree (BL) from the Nigerian Law School. She also holds LLM in International Information Technology Law (with distinction) from the Robert Gordon University, United Kingdom and recently completed the MA African Studies at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana. She also holds a Doctor of Laws Degree, LLD in International Law from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in International Academic Practice from Lancaster University, United Kingdom.
She started her research career as a Research Assistant at the Anglophone Africa Office of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) in 2007. She became particularly interested in the application of Technology towards the promotion of human rights before undertaking the LLM in International Information Technology Law. At the moment, her research interests focus on how technologies like Blockchain can be effective in the prosecution of international criminal law, admissibility of digital evidence under international law and also the possible extension of the jurisdiction of the Rome Statute to the prosecution of Cybercrime as a transnational crime. She is enthusiastic about an increasingly developing discourse on ‘International Cyber-Criminal Law’ within the international criminal law field.
She has attended various courses with academic credits including an International Criminal Law course at the University of Salzburg, Austria. She also serves as the Vice-Chair of the African Union Cyber Security Experts Group (AUCSEG) and has written for a range of academic journals and media publications in the areas of human rights and technology, cybercrime and international law. Dr. Nnenna Ifeanyi-Ajufo is a Senior Research Fellow at the African Centre of International Criminal Justice (ACICJ).
