Lt Col Bernard Baah-Acheamfour comes from Asokore in the Ashanti Region but born and bred in Techiman in the Bono East Region. He had his elementary education at Techiman Methodist School and had his secondary education at Techiman Secondary School (TESS). He continued to the University of Cape Coast in 1998 – 2002 and had his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Religions. He joined the Ghana Military Academy in October 2003 and commissioned in September 2005 as Lieutenant and posted to 1Bn, Michel Camp as an Infantry Officer. He had had all his military profession career courses including Young Officers’ Course, Junior Staff Course, Combat Team Commanders Course and Senior Staff Course at Army Combat Training School and Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College GAFCSC.
Besides the military career courses, the Lt Col has pursued several civil courses which include Post-Graduate Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Post-Graduate Diploma in Laws (Human Rights), Post-Graduate Certificate in Laws (International Criminal Justice) all in the University of London, Master of Science in Defence and International Politics GIMPA/GAFCSC, Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (GIMPA) and Master of Laws (LLM) in Public International Law, University of London. He also entered Ghana Law School in 2013-2015 and called to the Bar.
Again, the officer had attended other courses at the United Nations Regional Centre for training the trainers’ course in Uganda and enrolled in the UN Mobile Training Team. He had had training in Human Rights and Peace Keeping, Law of Armed Conflict, International Conflict Resolution all in United Nations Peace Operations Training Institute, USA. He also attended the Conflict Analysis and Conflict Management course at Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Centre and other training relating to his military and the legal profession.
The Senior Officer is currently in active service of the Ghana Armed Forces as Command Training Officer for the Ghana Army Training Schools, an adjunct lecturer in Public International Law at GIMPA Law Faculty and a fellow to this centre (African Centre for International Criminal Court). Lt Col Bernard Baah-Acheamfour is currently a PhD candidate at Centre for African and International Studies reading PhD in International Studies. Reading, listening to reggae/country music and teaching are his hobbies. Lt Col Bernard Baah-Acheamfour a Research Fellow at the African Centre of International Criminal Justice (ACICJ).
